Make Contact Sheets Using Adobe Bridge

Once you have your selects in a folder—letÕs make them into contact (proof) sheets

Near the upper right corner, instead of ÒessentialsÓ, click the tab that says ÒoutputÓ

YouÕll do the following in that modeÉ

In the upper left side of the screen, look for a tab that says ÒfoldersÓ

Click on the folder youÕve called ÒselectsÓ

Now look to the right side of the screen and set a few thingsÉ

Document: paper size (U.S. Letter)

Layout: set rows and columns—do 3 by 4 (if you have 36 images—12 per page) or 3 by 5 (if you have 45 images—15 per page)

I also click Òuse auto-spacingÓ and Òrotate for best fitÓ

Go down to the bottom, ignoring many panels, and un-click Òview pdf after saveÓ

And then hit ÒSaveÓ

Now you can name this PDF and save to the desktop (and print)

You can use the laser printer in the FABLAB for these contact sheets

Spend some time with these contacts (your Òrough cutÓ) to pick out your ÒheroesÓ

ÒHeroesÓ are the ones that you will (first) put up for critique, and (second) possibly turn in as final prints

YouÕll want to pick out six, eight, or ten final prints depending upon the assignment

Make Contacts with Photoshop

The powers that be have once again allowed us to make contacts with Photoshop

You can do this by going to Menu Bar, File, Automate, Contact Sheet II

The set up at this dialogue box is much like what is listed above—find the folder, set paper size, column and rows, etc. Then flatten and save as a PSD.
