Mise-En-Scene 2001 Ink-Jet on Canvas 24" x 36" This piece was included on the short list of twenty-five pieces that were selected for The Roche Contemporary Art Prize, an all-media exhibition and tour. The contestants were provided with the phrase, "sometimes bed is not an option" as an open-ended theme from which to work. The selected artists' work was included in the all-media exhibition and tour throughout Australia from 7th March to 6th April, 2001. It was then on exhibition from 24th April to 6th May, 2001 at PCL Exhibitionists Gallery, Sydney. This Prize and Exhibition is organized by Mojo Partners Pty Limited on behalf of Roche Products Pty Limited. While Mise-En-Scene may suggest an unfulfilled desire between two people, it is an ambiguous piece that could also point to scenarios both timeless (childbirth) and contemporary (HIV and in-vitro fertilization).
