2972 Long shot: approaching Lautner Road

2763 Approaching Lautner Road
Here the same job is approaching Lautner Road, west of Williamsburg. The rail line
pictured here was once the Pere Marquette Railway, and the C&O after that.
Taken July 7th 2017.

Surprised by a Six-Axle
Often I hear the train in town and catch up with it at Amerhart. This day, when the turn
was in the process of dropping three loads, I was surprised by the a
larger-than-usual locomotive. Taken August 1st 2018.

0164 Along Grand Traverse Bay, East Arm
Here is the six axle that surprised me at Amerhart: the train, seen along East Bay,
is now headed back to Traverse City with a couple of empties. I was really surprised
by seeing this six-axle locomotive today—some of the rail on this branch is the
smallest I’ve seen in a long time. This locomotive is an EMD SD40 built in 1970
as Penn Central 6262. Taken August 1st 2018.
